Upstairs Suite
The upstairs suite gives you over 1500 sq ft of living space. It has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, large living room, full kitchen, dinning area, laundry room, front balcony, and a spacious back deck! The panoramic view of Kachemak Bay from Turkington Estate's private 28 acres is one of the most breathtaking views you can experience while visiting Homer. Grewingk Glacier, Poots Peak, Gull Island, the Homer Spit and more; they're all visible!
The way the sun plays off of the snow covered mountain peaks, glaciers and clouds across the bay, you'll have a front row seat to some of the most spectacular sunrises and sunsets Alaska has to offer. Grewink Glacier, Poots Peak, Gull Island, the Homer Spit and more, they're all visible from the Estate. Through the summer months it's not uncommon to see a mamma moose and her young stroll through the property, an eagle soar overhead in search of a meal or have a flock of Sandhill Crane land in the field and forage for food with their young.
Guests might enjoy going for a stroll around the property exploring the various flora that grows wild, picking a snack of wild raspberries from the raspberry patch in the late summer and fall, sit out on the deck and watch the sun set in the late summer evenings or read Carolyn's diary entries and view photos from the Turkington family's adventures in Alaska since Bob and Carolyn first came to Alaska in Model A's from Connecticut 70 years ago. The Turkington's are 4th Generation Alaskans/Homerites and we love the last frontier. We're thrilled you stopped by our website to learn more about the Estate. We hope you'll choose to spend part of your Alaskan adventure with us!
The B&B is a split level rental. Your reservation gives you full access to the top floor of the B&B. That includes the entire top floor, front balcony overlooking the 28 acre property and the back deck where the main parking is located. There's enough parking to accommodate cars, trucks, RV'S and boats. An electronic deadbolt will allow you to gain access to the house no matter the time you arrive.
Because the B&B has electronic deadbolts, you are free to let yourself in when you arrive no matter the time of day or night of your reservation. You are not required to make contact with us upon arrival. A message through airbnb's website or app to let us know you arrived is appreciated. We want to make sure your check-in was successful and an enjoyable experience.
That being said, you might find Alan, Joyce or their kids and grand kids tinkering around in the barn behind the B&B, picking berries in the raspberry patch or having a family get together over at Joyce and Alan's house. The family is very respectful of our guests and we will ensure you have a nice quiet evening on the property. On the other hand, if you see us tinkering around the property, we would love for you to say hello. Because the B&B is a split level rental, we expect our guests to be mindful of the other guests in the bottom unit. We want everyone to enjoy the property as much as possible. Each guests level of interaction with our family or other guests is entirely up to each individual. Whether you're there to check in and have a quite stay to yourself, or you like to say hello should you see us on the property, we're just happy you decided to stay with us while visiting our little hamlet by the sea!
